Gerald R. Phillips “Jerry” age 74, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away Thursday February 27, 2020 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held March 6, 2020, 10:00 AM at Boulger Funeral Home Fargo, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior. Full Military Honors will be provided following the service at Gerald’s place of rest at the Fargo National Cemetery.

Gerald was born December 30th, 1945 in Mandan, ND, the son of Edwin and Dorothy Phillips. He grew up for a short period in Bismarck, ND and later moved to Dickinson, ND until he graduated from Dickinson High School. In October of 1965, Gerald entered the US Marine Corps. He spent time at the Marine Corps base in Camp Lejeune, NC and later was stationed in Vietnam for the 2nd TET Offensive. During his time in Camp Lejeune on August 5th, 1967 he married Mary Androski at St. Mathews Cathedral in Washington D.C. Gerald was honorably discharged from serving in the Marine Corps in Oct. 1969 and shortly after moved to Fargo, North Dakota.

In Fargo, Gerald obtained an Electrical Technicians degree from the Minnesota Technical College and was employed by Epko Film. Later he was employed by Red River Magnavox and retired in 2006. He was a member of the local Red River Radio Amateurs club and never missed a Ham Radio field day. He enjoyed golfing, camping, and playing his musical instruments (Clarinet and Guitar).

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Christine Phillips KB0KML; son, Patrick Phillips KA0WTW; son, Michael (Rachel) Phillips, all of Fargo, ND; two brothers, Dennis (Linda) Phillips, Phoenix, AZ; Edwin (Bekah) Phillips, Weimar, CA; three sisters, Kathleen (Jon) Fiegen, Chandler, AZ; Aleta (Ed) Huskinson, Kingman, AZ; and Carol (Jay) Gentille, Chandler, AZ; three grandchildren Keila Phillips, Andrew Phillips, and Mia Phillips all of Fargo.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.

The Phillips family would like to give a special thank-you to the amazing staff at the Fargo Veterans Affairs Hospital for their wonderful care and compassionate treatment.
